Hi! So it’s been a while since I’ve posted and it’s not because of the lack of card making! I often take pictures of my cards straight away and decide to share them instantly on Instagram! I am intending to add on all of my cards on here as I love reading about the creative process behind everyone else’s cardmaking! I’ve given myself half an hour to write this blog post so I know that if I can achieve it that amount of time there’s no reason not to update my blog!
Right onto today’s cards – I have two to share.
I am currently taking part in the Daily Marker 30 day colouring challenge which is all about taking out at least 10 minutes for yourself and just colour whatever takes your fancy! More details can be found here www.thedailymarker.com
Today I decided to colour the elephants from Clearly Besotted’s Love you Tons set. This is one of my very first CB sets and I love it – it’s currently on sale at a great price too! I coloured these images with my Spectrum Noir markers for one of them I use three shades IG1, IG2 and IG4 and for the other I used just IG1 and IG2 and I actually preferred this! I used FS2 and FS6 for the ears and pinks inthe cheeks. After colouring these I fussy cut them out and dded some clear Spectrum Noir sparkle on the top – this gives it a gorgeous shine.
I then went about assembling these into cards. I recently placed an order from CraftStash which included two of their scalloped die sets in the Creative Plus range – I have the whole set of Wonky Stitches and I think I’ll be building up my stash of these scalloped dies too. I die cut the second largest heart from a piece of patterned paper from the It’s a Boy paper pad from First Edition. For the first card I used the positive die cut. I then trimmed another piece of patterned paper to A6 size which coordinated slightly with the heart die cut. I adhered this piece to a A6 card base. Using the largest wonky stitches rectangle from CraftStash I cut out a piece of vellum – i then centred my heart onto this piece then adhered my elephants with some foam tape to give it some dimension. On the reverse side of the vellum I applied adhesive where the heart was placed so it wouldn’t show through. I then attached this to my patterned card base. I love the look of this as the vellum softens the bright patterned background so it doesn’t distract from the focal point of the card. i added the Happy Fathers Day sentiment which is included in this set by stamping it onto a banner outline from Clearly Besotted’s Banner Basics stamp set. I then added some Marshmallow Confetti from Pretty Pink Posh to finish of my card.
For the second card I use the negative die cut and trimmed it down using the largest square from the wonky stitches square set from CraftStash – this meant it would fit nicely onto a 5 x 5 inch notecard. I was going to adhere this negative piece straight onto my background but though it would look better if I added some colour in the window. I used my Tonic Studios Nuvo Mousses in Spring Green and Cornflower Blue and blended these onto the background with a mini ink blending tool – this gives such a lovely pearlescent look which you don’t get with inks. I then adhered my square panel on, added my elephants with some foam pads as well as the same sentiment from the previous card. To finish of this card I added some clear sequins from Little Things By Lucy’s Cards.
And there you have it – two very quick and cute cards to make – really enjoyed making these!
Hope to see you soon – Happy Crafting
